Pulmonary medicine is an essential area of internal medicine, as chronic respiratory disorders are common globally. The lecture will cover a range of conditions from asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension. The audience will learn about new advances in pulmonary diagnostics, which involve high-resolution CT scans, bronchoscopy, and biomarker-based testing.
The session will also touch upon innovative therapy, ranging from biologics in asthma to new rehabilitation strategies for COPD. Breathing disorders related to sleep, such as obstructive sleep apnea, will be explored in addition to new treatments. As smoking and air pollution account for much lung disease, the session will focus on prevention and the incorporation of respiratory care in integral internal medicine practice.
